We may sell Niels Aardenburg in January. Suggest three similar wingers aged 24 or under, cheaper if possible.

Creative and productive, but in a lower tier; treat his level as indicative.

Mateo Calderolli is the closest match to Aardenburg’s style and plays at the same league level. Jonas Elvestrand has the highest level of the three but is more of a scorer than a creator. Rui Montevelho is the most creative, in a tier 3 league.

  • Season 2025/2026; wingers aged 24 or under with at least 900 minutes, from tier 2 and tier 3 leagues.
  • Similarity compares playing style within the position group. It does not account for league level.
  • Montevelho’s percentiles are against tier 3 players, so comparing him with the other two is indicative.
  • I cannot say who would be cheaper: transfer fees, contracts and salaries are not in the data.

How this answer was produced (4 steps)
  1. find_player looked up “Niels Aardenburg”: one match, at Kelderwijk.
  2. get_player_profile returned his position group, minutes and the winger metrics with percentiles.
  3. find_similar_players ranked wingers aged 24 or under in tier 2 and tier 3 leagues by similarity to him.
  4. show_players passed three player ids with one reason each; the server built the cards.

On the cards: OBV is On-Ball Value, npxG is non-penalty expected goals, xA is expected assists, PAdj is possession-adjusted, /90 is per 90 minutes. The bar shows the percentile: blue at or above the 80th, orange at or below the 20th.

How does a question become a shortlist?

In four steps. The model chooses the players; the server supplies the numbers.

  1. You ask in plain language

    The answer follows the language of your question. Follow-up questions build on the answers before them.

  2. The agent queries the data

    Claude plans the search and calls the data tools. Its answer may use only what they return.

    find_playerget_player_profilesearch_playersfind_similar_playerscompare_players

  3. The server builds the cards

    The model names the players and gives one reason for each. The server looks every player up and fills in the numbers on the cards and in the comparison table.

  4. You share the result

    Print the answer as a report, or send a read-only link that opens without an account. A shared answer is a snapshot: later data updates do not change it.

Why should I trust the numbers?

The numbers on a card never pass through the model.

What the model sends

show_players
{
  "mode": "shortlist",
  "reference": {"player_id": 4127},
  "players": [    {"player_id": 5310,
     "reason": "Closest match on
       carrying and chance creation;
       presses less than the
       reference."},    {"player_id": 6092, …},
    {"player_id": 7745, …}
  ]
}

What the server builds from it

Mateo Calderolli
Valmora · League B · 22.4 y · 2,310 min
94.6similarity
Tier 2OBV /90 0.27 · 88th in tier
Successful dribbles /902.84 · 95th
OBV from dribbles & carries /900.10 · 90th
PAdj pressures /9010.4 · 12th
Closest match on carrying and chance creation; presses less than the reference.
For each card the model sends a player id and one reason. The server accepts only ids that a data tool returned earlier in the same conversation, and rejects a reason that is longer than 15 words or contains a digit. Everything else on the card is filled in from the data.

What data does it cover?

Men’s senior leagues around the world, up to two seasons deep.

metrics per player
47
between checks for new data
10 min
Source
Licensed professional football data: season statistics for each player, per 90 minutes and as ratios.
Metrics
Six families: shooting and chance creation, passing and progression, carrying, On-Ball Value, defending, goalkeeping.
Positions
Eight position groups, from goalkeeper to striker. Each has its own set of style metrics for profiles and similarity.
Seasons
An answer uses each league’s latest complete season unless you ask for the season in progress. The season is shown with the player cards.
Percentiles
A player is ranked against players of the same position group with at least 900 minutes, in leagues of the same tier. 100 is always best.
League tiers
Three: the top five European leagues; other strong leagues and the second divisions of Germany, Spain, Italy and France; all other leagues.
Similarity
How close a player’s style is to a reference player in the same position group, from 0 to 100. Every metric weighs the same, and league level is not part of it.
Level
On-Ball Value per 90 minutes for outfield players; goals saved above average per 90 minutes for goalkeepers.
